Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. (Prov 18:21)
Most of us know the saying, “Talk is cheap” or “Actions speak louder than words”. Whilst there is an element of truth to these sayings, the truth is “Talk is not cheap” and words have a powerful and lasting effect on our souls more than we care to acknowledge. I routinely will pray with people in an altar call who share the lasting impact of cutting words spoken over them years before. Words are powerful because God designed them to be the primary vehicle of communication between people. In Genesis 1, God spoke “Light” and there was light. We have been made in the image of God with the same creative power in our mouths. Words are the prophets of our futures and the shaper of the boundaries of our lives. Watch your words because they are determining more about your relationships and your life than you realise.
