Speak truth in love!

Ephesians 4:15 Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him.

One of my growth points has been learning to speak truth to others with kindness and not harshness. People with a prophetic bent generally find it easy to shoot from the hip and let people know what they think and what God thinks but often they tend to do it in a way that’s harsh and unhelpful. When you speak, it’s often not what you say but how you say it. The tone and diction of your words have as much impact as the words themselves. God has placed my wife in my life to help me grow in this area but all of us need to have people in our worlds giving us feedback on how we are coming across. We are to welcome this and see it as an opportunity to grow in maturity. Why? One of the chief signs we are developing in spiritual maturity is we increasingly speak the truth in love.
