John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
Discontentment is the fruit of our brokenness and causes us to pursue all sorts of objects and activities to distract us, albeit for a brief moment, from our starving hearts. On top of this, the culture around us fuels our discontentment, marketing to us the next latest and greatest experience, holiday, car or article of clothing promising happiness and fulfillment. In the midst of our frenzied pursuit of contentment, Jesus stands waiting for us to come to him and receive total nourishment of our souls. What a tragedy it would be to have access to the source of life itself but never drink or eat what we need to be fully satisfied. Jesus said, “whoever comes to me shall not hunger”. The key is in our coming to Jesus and believing in him that brings the peace and contentment we are truly longing for. There comes a point when we must get dissatisfied with discontentment and run to the one and only source of fulfillment, the bread of life himself!
