Psalm 127:2 “It is in vain you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.”
I love this verse because it promises sleep to those whose hearts are fully Gods but I hate this verse because all too often this verse challenges me about my own sparodic approach to sleep of going to bed later than I should and getting up early for a new day of adventure. I love sleep like the next person but every now and then, I find myself wide awake in middle of the night with my mind racing with ideas and expectation of things to come. I find that when I can’t sleep, I need to tune into Gods voice and listen to what’s on his heart. The best thing you can do when you can’t sleep is ask God to speak to you and get ready for a heavenly download. It’s often in these intimate moments that your heart is most receptive to what’s on Gods heart. After connecting with the Holy Spirit, I then get up and write down as much as I can of what he has said and I often find solutions to problems and ideas for life and work spring up in these early hours of the night. It’s often after this heavenly download that my body, soul and spirit are ready to sleep. Don’t eat the bread of anxious toil, establish good sleep patterns but if you are awake, open up the ear of your heart and tune into Gods frequency. Explosive Insights!
