Stay Focused!

Philippians 3:13-14 But this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

About this time of year, the passion of New Year’s resolutions and goals begin to wane, as the rush of everyday responsibilities consume us. I want to encourage you to not let the busyness and routine of everyday life crush your hopes and dreams for 2018. 2018 can and should be your best year yet, regardless of what circumstances may be threatening to steal your peace. Having the best year of your life doesn’t mean you’ll never have to face challenges or difficulties. It comes back to your focus on what God has spoken into your heart, as well as sticking to your core convictions. What you choose to focus on is what will impact your life in 2018 more than anything else. There are some things in life we cannot control. There is no point allowing your focus or peace to be distracted by these things. What you must focus on are those things you’ve been entrusted with and can take responsibility for. I’ve learnt that if I will play my part and give 100% to what I’ve been called to do, the rest of my life takes care of itself. Take heart, God is for you and he has anointed you with talents, abilities and responsibilities that require your attention. The arena you will see the most reward from is connected to you focusing on those very gifts and strengths that God has entrusted you with. Stay focused. Explosive Insights!

Don’t Give Up on Gods Promises!

Genesis 16:1-2 “Now Sarai, Abram’s wife had borne him no children. She had a female Egyptian servant whose name was Hagar. And Sarai said to Abram, ‘The Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Go in to my servant; it may be that I shall obtain children by her.’ And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.”

I love the story of Abraham and Sarah’s journey of faith because it mirrors what many of us go through in our own lives. When we face the delay of Gods promises being fulfilled, most of us take matters into our own hands. This is exactly what Sarai and Abram did after 10years of not seeing the fulfilment of God’s promises. When Abram should’ve kept listening to the voice of God, he listened to the voice of doubt and retreated from the life of faith. When we can’t see in the natural what we are expecting from God in our timeline, we often look for other options to bring the promise to pass. Unfortunately, our efforts to secure what God wants to secure for us indicates our lack of trust for Gods timing and purposes. 2 Corinthians 5:7 calls us to “walk by faith, not by sight.” Faith hears the rhema inspired word of God and stays focused on it regardless of what the natural circumstances might be indicating. When Abram took matters into his own hands, he only delayed what God always intended to bless him with, the promised son Isaac. Whatever your Isaac is, God wants you to trust him with the timing of the promise. Guard your heart from doubt and run back to the rhema word of God. Your Isaac is coming your way. Don’t be Anxious about the Future!

Matthew 6:34 “Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

The future is filled with uncertainties. Many people fear the future and live with anxiety over the unanswered questions of what tomorrow may hold. Truth is, your future will be a reflection of what you are sowing into your life today. Today is the day God has made for you and I encourage you to live it to the full and be mindful of the moment that God has you in rather than anxiously waiting for tomorrow. The key to making the most of your tomorrow’s is maximising the opportunities that are infront of you today. Many of us suffer from destination disease. We’re so desperate to get to a place called there, that we miss the place called here. I understand for some of us, life may be so painful today that we’re just holding on for tomorrow, hoping it will take away the pain we feel. But God is not only in your tomorrow, He’s in the pain of your today. He wants to bring you closer to himself and he wants to speak words of life into your spirit that will give you strength for whatever it is you are facing today. Don’t believe the lie of anxiety about your future. The same God who’s with you in your today will sustain you in your tomorrow. Time is the most precious resource we have. Focus your attention upon Jesus and make the most of today. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Explosive Insights!

Did you learn to love well?

The late Bob Jones describes an experience of heaven he had in the 70s due to a fatal sickness, where for several minutes he was clinically dead. He recalls standing in a long line of people, waiting to enter paradise and Jesus asked every person one simple question, “Did you learn to love well?” What’s on the Fathers heart is often very different to what is on our hearts. How tragic would it be to spend life focusing time and energy on things other than what truly matters to God. Many of us think we know what it means to love well simply because we can explain it. Just because you understand something enough to explain it doesn’t mean you’ve experienced it. All of life’s dysfunctions find their root in a lack of experience of Gods love. Loving God, ourselves and others well is the true fruit of spiritual maturity. We will not grow into true spiritual maturity until we experience Gods love in us. Gods goal for your life is for you to love well more than achieve well. Explosive Insights!

Don’t get the thief and the Lord mixed up!

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy but I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly.”

The thief in this passage represents the Devils agenda to steal, kill and destroy our lives. In contrast, Jesus said he has come to give us life in all of its fullness. Unfortunately, many people get the thief and the Lord mixed up. Too often we withhold from God our trust, availability and obedience because we think we are going to miss out on something. Instead we indirectly give to the enemy our best thoughts, resources and energies by believing lies about God and ourselves that ultimately rob us of the abundant life Jesus made available for us. When it comes to the issue of sin, the thief uses condemnation to destroy us but God uses conviction to promote us into our identity as sons and daughters of God. Don’t get the thief and the Lord mixed up in your life. The thief masquerades himself to be something he isn’t in order to steal, kill and destroy Gods purposes in our lives but God reveals himself as he is to bring us into the abundant life of his kingdom. Don’t get the thief and the Lord mixed up! Explosive insights!

The Price of Success..in ANYTHING!

2 Kings 2:9-10 “Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me. And Elijah said, What you have asked is a hard thing.”

It doesn’t matter what arena of life you want success in, there is a price to be paid. The price comes back to are you willing to do the hours, develop the knowledge, acquire the skills and practice delayed gratification. If your goal is to grow closer to God, then put in the hours of prayer, bible reading and worship. If your goal is to build wealth, get control of your spending, save diligently and invest wisely. If your goal is to be fit and healthy, develop more consistent sleep patterns, exercise daily and improve your nutrition. Anything worth achieving in life requires an investment on your part. If you’re dissatisfied with your current results, change your approach and make the commitment to become the best you can be with whatever resources and opportunities are currently in front of you. Success in anything is a hard thing but the reward is worth it. Pay the price now, so you can play later!

What are your GOALS?

Habakkuk 2:2 And the Lord answered me, “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” Some people don’t think of themselves as goal oriented but every person I’ve ever met and chatted to about their life has some sort of goal or desire for their lives lurking somewhere in their minds and hearts. One of the things I do daily is to look at and pray into my goals for my life. I’ve researched books and asked successful people what the best approach to goal setting is and basically, it all boils down to, KEEP IT SIMPLE. Too many goals become overwhelming to your mind and your schedule. Narrow your goals to no more than 10 and try to write and articulate those goals into the most concise and precise way possible. There should be no extra fluff in your wording. Make your goals concrete, defined and measurable. Then everyday I encourage you to read over your goals, declare them out loud and pray into them. If they are important to you, you should be thinking about them and asking God for help to fulfill them. As you repeat this process daily, your mind will be filled with strategies to help you accomplish your goals and you will find unusual favor come your way to help you fulfill those goals that are truly ordered by the Lord. Don’t be afraid to adjust your goals, as you feel led to. You’re not a slave to your goals, they are meant to serve you and help you get to where God has called you to go. So, what are your goals?
