Psalms 2:8 “Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.”
We fail to possess because we fail to ask. God is the giver of not just good things but extravagant and abundant gifts. God delights in doing exceedingly and abundantly above all that we could ever ask or think. There are things available to us that we’ve missed out on simply because we haven’t asked for it. We have thought to ourselves that ‘I’m not worthy enough to ask’ or ‘God wouldn’t give that to me’. But the Psalmist prophesied God’s heart, “Ask of me and I will give you the nations as your heritage and possession”. Everything in the kingdom is received by faith, not by us performing for God. Dare to ask God for what reason says is impossible. You don’t have because you don’t ask. Selah!
Many people talk a lot about wanting something in life but very few of us actually go out and pay a price to possess what we want. Too many people live in quiet desperation brooding over their problems and secretly coveting the life someone else is currently living. I encourage you to stop comparing and fantasising in vain and actually go after what you want. One of the most powerful questions Jesus ever asked someone in the Gospels was, “What do you want me to do for you?” You would think that for blind Bartimaeus that it was obvious what he wanted = sight but Jesus still asked him anyway. We hear so many preachers telling us to deny ones self to follow Jesus and yet I think we would be surprised to know that Jesus is interested in finding out what exactly it is you want from him. Once you get clear on your answer, the next question is, how bad do you want it? Or, put another way, what price are you willing to pay for it? Stop wishing and start doing. You’ll be surprised at the outcome!
Prayer is fundamental to every human being on the planet. All of us verbalise a form of prayer at some point in our lives. Prayer is the most accessible thing to do on the planet and yet many of us struggle with the words to truly express what is in our hearts. Prayer is a dialogue with God, not a monologue. Prayer is an expression of hunger and passion in our hearts. Prayer is the key that unlocks heaven. Prayer is the portal of God’s power. Prayer requires us to slow down and pause on what is eternal rather than what is temporal. Prayer leads to an outbreak of miracles. Prayer is God’s supply line to the front line of ministry. Prayer connects us to God. Prayer is an invitation to hang out with God. Prayer is a lifestyle, not an event. Prayer must become the air we breathe. Prayer Works!
Jesus said, ‘Pray then like this, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…’ (Matthew 6:9-10)
